Yesterday, November 30, the first cabin gondola was officially opened on Jahorina. Opening ceremony was attended by BiH Presidency Member Mr. Milorad Dodik, Director of Jahorina Olympic Center Dejan Ljevnaić, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Jahorina Olympic Center Nedeljko Elek, Mayor of the Municipality of Pale Mr. Boško Jugovic, Project Manager of Leitner Ms. Katerina Baldo. Mr. Srdjan Djokovic, the father of the most famous Serbian tennis player who gave his name to one of the new trails under the Gondola, and welcomed the opening ceremony as a special guest of surprise.
On this occasion, the Director of the Jahorina Olympic Center, Mr. Dejan Ljevnaić, said: “This is a historic day for Jahorina, we have opened the first cabin gondola and our goal is to justify the trust shown to us by the Government of Republika Srpska. We are immensely pleased and honored to be the only ski resort in the world whose trail is named after the famous Novak Djoković. Novak is a unique example of how to get to the top of the world and successfully survive on that top. We want the same for Jahorina. ”
Ljevnaić added that Jahorina is preparing for the opening of the winter season scheduled for December 6, the snowmaking system is in operation and the trails are slowly preparing for the arrival of the first skiers.
Milorad Dodik, a Serb member of the BiH Presidency, congratulated the Jahorina Olympic Center on another major infrastructure endeavor that takes the Olympic beauty even faster to the top of European and world ski destinations.
He confirmed that the institutions of the Republika Srpska will continue to strongly support the development of the Jahorina Olympic Center, as well as other quality projects throughout Republika Srpska, leading to its more intensive development and international promotion.
Nedeljko Elek, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said: “Jahorina is a state project and we should treat it that way. When we started working two and a half years ago and said that the price of land would be the most expensive in the region, that new investors would come, build hotels, solve the problem of artificial snowmaking, make a gondola, they all told us that these were dreams, “he recalled and stated that they had succeeded in their intention.
The opening ceremony itself was followed by a spectacular concert by Saša Matić, who performed an unforgettably great atmosphere and sang until late in the evening. For this concert, tickets were in high demand and requested for days, and the famous singer justified his reputation with his emotional and phenomenal performance.
Due to great interest, Jahorina Olympic Center has today, on December 1st, commissioned a new cabin gondola, which is still free of charge to all guests today. The gondola will be operational until 3:00 pm and we invite everyone from Jahorina Olympic Center to come to the Olympic Mountain.
